Jan Svěrák (1965) is a Czech film director and son of the famous Czech screenwriter and actor Zdeněk Svěrák. Svěrák's film Kolja (Kolya, 1996), written by and starring his father, won the Oscar as Best Foreign Language Film. The father and son got another Oscar nomination for Obecní škola (The Elementary School, 1991).
