Erle Stanley Gardner

Erle Stanley Gardner (1889–1970) is an American lawyer and prolific writer of stories in the mystery genre published over many decades and under various pseudonyms. He is the creator of the famous defense attorney Perry Mason. He also wrote pulp fiction, though – for the same Black Mask magazine that also published stories by Dashiell Hammett and Raymond Chandler.
